Tributes paid to Karbala martyrs

Governor Satya Pal Malik paid tributes to the sacrifices made by Hazrat Imam Hussain and other martyrs of Karbala on Thursday.
On the eve of Aashoor-e-Muharram, the Governor said Hazrat Imam Hussain and his companions sacrificed their lives for upholding the high values of truth, justice and righteousness. He said their martyrdom reminded mankind of the high principles of human dignity and morality.
He prayed for peace, harmony and normalcy in the state.
National Conference president Farooq Abdullah paid rich tributes to martyrs of Karbala on Youm-e-Ashura. He said Hazrat Imam Hussain gave the highest degree of sacrifice to uphold principles of truth and human dignity.
Farooq said Imam Hussain and his companions exhibited unparalleled courage and patience and made historic sacrifices at Karbala which strengthened the Islam.
He prayed for peace and well-being of the state and people.
National Conference vice-president Omar Abdullah said the ultimate sacrifice of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) was a beacon of light for Muslims. “Imam Hussaindied for the glory of the Islam,” Omar said.
“The message of faith and justice that emanated from Karbala will resonate till eternity. Our unity would be the biggest tribute to Hazrat Imam Hussain and his companions,” he said.
Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Hurriyat leader, also paid tributes to the martrys. He said the sacrifice by Prophet Muhammad’s grandson Imam Hussain “infused a meaning into Islam”.
