While witnessing a significant advancement in the domain of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) in agriculture automation, IIT Ropar has launched a Certificate course today on “AI & CPS for Agriculture Automation.”

The registration started today and online classes will commence from June 2 for six weeks. The course has been launched by Prof. Rajeev Ahuja, Director of IIT Ropar.

At the launch of the course, he said, “We want to transform India’s agriculture sector by developing innovative technological solutions to maximize productivity, improve upon the market linkages and supply chain efficiency, and bolster the country’s startup ecosystem by providing inputs for agro-business. This certificate course is one of the best offerings in the domain and probably the first course of its kind at a very nominal fee.”

  • • Registration begin from May 3, 2021

    • The course will begin from June 2 - July 16, 2021

    •  6-week online certificate course on AI & CPS for agriculture automation will enhance the employability of new graduates, people working in the industry, and faculty members.

    • The course includes 100 contact hours for lectures plus labs and capstone projects in interdisciplinary areas. 

    • The course will be commenced online. Hardware and software will be made available to all the participants at their homes.

    • Open for UG/PG students of any branch of engineering and industry professionals.

The course is an initiative by the recently established Technology Innovation Hub, AWaDH (Agriculture & Water Technology Development Hub), at IIT Ropar in the framework of National Mission on Interdisciplinary Cyber-Physical Systems (NM - ICPS).

The course will focus on bridging the gap between academia and industry by providing hands-on training in AI & CPS in the domain of agriculture. The topics in this course will be taught so that the expertise gained is not limited to the agriculture domain but can be applied to design systems for other domains, such as; healthcare, surveillance, home automation, industry 4.0, society 5.0, etc.

 While explaining the salient feature of the course, Prof. Neeraj Goel, who is the coordinator of this course, said the course includes 100 contact hours for lectures and mentored labs, and a capstone project.

The course is open for UG/PG students of any branch of Engineering and professionals from the industry. After screening the applications, offer letters will be sent to the selected candidates.

At the end of this course, participants will design an application that takes data from electronic devices and sensors in the field and uses machine learning.

 The course fee for students is Rs. 8,500 + GST at 18%, for faculty Rs 12,500 + GST at 18% and for Industry it is Rs 18,000 + GST at 18%.

There is a limited number of scholarships for meritorious students of Rs 2500/- discount in the fees for those whose CGPA > 8.5 or percentage > 80%. Scholarships will be given on a first-come, first-served basis.
