5 ‘Super 30 girls’ ace IIT JEE Advanced

As many as five young girls enrolled under NTPC’s ‘Super 30 girls’ programme, a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative introduced by India’s largest power generating company have cracked the IIT JEE mains. These girls were among the group of 18 who had earlier qualified for the IIT JEE advanced.

The year-long residential programme, implemented with an objective to coach students for IIT-JEE, belonging to economically weaker families, brought these young aspirants a step closer to realising their dream of studying in some of India’s premier engineering institutes.

After the MoU signed between NTPC Northern Region Head Quarter in Lucknow and CSRL, New Delhi, NTPC & CSRL jointly initiated the Rs 77.03 lakh-programme for 30 girls selected from families living in the vicinity of NTPC plants in the northern region. During the tenure of the project, the students were provided with free stay & food and were imparted coaching and training to sit for entrance examinations (IIT/JEE/NIT) that would help them gain admission to eminent institutes in the country.

EDII to offer new specialisations

Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII), an acknowledged national resource Institute for Entrepreneurship Education, Research, Training and Institution Building, will offer Business Analytics & Information Systems as a part of new electives in its flagship course Post Graduate Diploma in Management – Business Entrepreneurship (PGDM-BE). Social Entrepreneurship and Social Enterprise Management are other two specialisations that the institute will offer to students of its 2019-2021 batch.

Explaining the emphasis given on new specialisation of Business Analytics & Information Systems, Dr. Satya Ranjan Acharya, Acting Chairperson, PG Programmes, EDII said, “India has seen plethora of start-ups coming up in technology field over the past few years. However, not many of them have succeeded. The technology start-ups particularly edtech, healthtech and foodtech are bridging the gap between rural and urban markets through innovative solutions that society deserves. EDII has decided to offer this specialization in order to ensure that technology start-ups do not fail and are able to address the critical society issues through sustainable business models.”
