Kharar resident gets 10-year jail for carrying banned injections

Chandigarh, February 20

The court of Additional District and Sessions Judge today awarded a 10-year imprisonment to a resident of Kharar for carrying 50 banned injections in 2018.

The court also imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh on the convict, identified as Kulbir Singh, alias Goldy (30), a resident of Mundi Kharar, Mohali.

According to prosecution, a police team during patrolling near water works in Sector 39 around 11.15 pm on May 4, 2015, saw a youth coming from Maloya village. The youth was carrying an orange coloured bag in his right hand. On seeing the police, the youth turned back and started walking briskly in the opposite direction. Getting suspicious of the youth’s activities, the cops overpowered him.

During his inspection, 25 injections of pheniramine maleate and 25 injections of buprenorphine were recovered from the bag.

As the youth could not produce any licence to carry the injections, a case under the NDPS Act was registered against him. — TNS
