Be in the moment, says Miss Earth India 2016 finalist Aastha Abhay

When did you realise that you wanted to pursue acting?

I am from Ranchi. When I was a kid, I loved getting dolled up. With time this passion grew stronger and stronger.

Who are your biggest influences?

My parents are my biggest influence. My father was a surgeon and he taught us to work hard to make our dreams come true. In the industry, I like Madhuri Dixit ma’am.

What made you accept Meri Doli Mere Angana?

Meri Doli Mere Angana allows me to experiment with my acting skills.

Tell us about your role.

I play Janaki, a girl from an era when women were naive and totally family-oriented. She is a versatile and responsible person.

How has been your experience on the sets?

My experience so far has been a smooth one. The cast members are friendly and very supportive. It is now a family away from my family.

How is Meri Doli Mere Angana different from other family dramas?

The tagline Meri Doli Mere Angana is a comment on society.

How have you prepared for your role?

I used to watch movies like Vivah and Maine Pyar Kiya five or six times a day to understand the character.

If not an actor, what would you be?

Interior designer.

Where do you see yourself in the next five years?

In the next five years I want to be successful, not just in terms of work but also in terms of personal growth. Be happy wherever I am, and grow.

What was the last show you watched on the OTT platform?

Money Heist.

A character you would want to play?

Tokyo from Money Heist. She is a woman with a mind of her own. She knew the consequences would not always be in her favour, but she took her chance and acted upon it. Not everyone is brave enough to follow their hearts.
