I wanted to do comedy: Nyra Banerjee

Nyra Banerjee

Nyra Banerjee, who was seen in Divya Drishti, is back with Star Bharat’s new show Excuse Me Madam. Getting a show when the industry is struggling to revive is not easy, Nyra feels she is lucky to have got this opportunity.

From South Indian film industry to Bollywood and then to TV, how will you sum up your journey?

It has been absolutely magnificent though I feel there are milestones to cover. But so far it has been amazingly beautiful.

How did you get the show Excuse Me Madam?

It was the only audition I gave during the lockdown and it worked in my favour. I wanted to do meaningful comedy and this was it.

Your co-actor Rajesh Kumar has tested positive for Coronavirus. What is the status of the shoots?

He is in quarantine. We have not begun shooting yet but I am sure the production has a plan in place. That is for them to decide.

What kind of preparations and research have you done for your role?

There has been no research as it is not a role that requires it but I have tried to keep it meaningful and not over the top.

How is Excuse Me Madam different from other comic shows?

It is not over-the-top comedy. It is something people will be able to relate to.

If not an actor, what would you have been?

I love to dance. So, may be a choreographer.

Your name was recently listed in Top 20 Most Desirable Women On TV. What do you have to say about that?

I am honoured and humbled. I am the only new entry and it feels nice to be acknowledged on such a big platform.

When not shooting, what do you prefer to do?

Reading, painting, dance, spend time with mom, listen to music and meet friends.

Your fitness and food regime?

I drink a lot of liquids, turmeric, garam masala water. I am a hardcore non-veggie, so my protein is taken care of. I eat sautéed veggies. I have not joined a gym but I do my walks and stretches. I used to do a lot of yoga hence even now I am pretty flexible. I do three most favourite asanas and I am sorted.
