SAMRALA: A youth of Boothgarh Sasrali village, near Koom Kalan, died due to drug overdose in the morning today. The deceased was identified as Shera (22), only brother of five sisters.

A youth of Boothgarh Sasrali village, near Koom Kalan, died due to drug overdose in the morning today. The deceased was identified as Shera (22), only brother of five sisters.

As per information Shera worked as a DJ in marriages in the area. He was addicted to ‘Chitta’. Today in the morning at about 8 am, he left for Chaunta village on his motorcycle without having any meals.

According to information on reaching Chaunta village Shera consumed ‘Chitta’ and turned back towards his village. As he reached near a petrol pump near Chaunta village he felt suffocated. He stopped at the petrol pump to drink when he fell on the ground and died within minutes.

Some onlookers said they had seen injections marks on Shera’s arms. He died due to drug overdose.

It is worth to mention here that Chaunta village and the adjoining areas are known for sale of drugs mainly ‘Chitta’. Many youths of the areas have reportedly died due to drugs.

When contacted, Station House Officer (SHO), Koom Kalan, DP Singh, confirmed death of Shera. He said as per information father of the youth was following him as he was aware about his addiction. Shera died in front of women’s bathroom at the petrol pump, he added.

No case was registered in this regard and the body of youth was handed over to his family after a post mortem examination, the SHO said.

“We will intensify police patrolling in the area to keep a watch on bad elements and drug sellers. Sale of drugs will not be allowed at any cost and strict action will be taken if anyone is found selling drugs,” the SHO added.
