Two motorcycle-borne robbers targeted the vehicle of a gas agency near Jharoudi village and looted Rs 40,000 by throwing chilli powder into the eyes of an employee.
Jagvir Singh, an employee of Satwant Gas Agency, had gone on a tractor-trailer to deliver LPG cylinders at villages. While he was going towards Jharoudi village, two motorcycle-borne youths made him stop on the pretext of taking delivery of a cylinder. While Jagvir was getting down, the bikers threw chilli powder into his eyes and snatched the bag carrying cash from him.
After being informed, Samrala DSP and Machhiwara SHO reached the spot and started investigation. In the meantime, the police manged to procure CCTV footage grab of the robbers.
Khanna SSP Dhruv Dahiya said one of the robbers had been identified and a case would be registered in this regard. He had directed the Machhiwara SHO and other officials concerned to arrest the accused as soon as possible.
