Ludhiana, April 22

Lok Insaaf Party Councillor from Ward Number 36, Harvinder Singh Kaler, has accused Deputy Mayor Sarbjit Kaur and her husband Gernail Singh Shimlapuri for allegedly misusing MC’s tractor.

Kaler has alleged that the tractor was kept at the house of an aide of the Deputy Mayor’s husband.

“The tractor was reserved for work in Ward Number 36, but the Deputy Mayor’s husband Gernail Singh Shimlapuri had taken it for development works in Ward Number 35. The tractor had been missing for the past one year,” he alleged.

“We learned that the tractor was parked at a house in Sundar Nagar. But when we reached Sundar Nagar, the tractor was already shifted to some other place. Now, the tractor has been found at the office of the Deputy Mayor. We have complained to the MC authorities in this regard,” he said.

Deputy Mayor Sarbjit Kaur and her husband Gernail Singh have refuted the allegations.

“We did not misuse the tractor. It was being used for lifting waste in Ward Number 35. Since the Model Code of Conduct came into force, a person who used to drive this tractor had stationed it at his house. Actually, Harvinder Singh Kaler has done nothing to carry out development works in Ward Number 36 and now he is levelling false allegations against us.”

MC Zonal Commissioner Jasdev Singh Sekhon said, “We are investigating the matter.”
