District TT tourney: Gautam, Dhriti win titles

Ludhiana, November 30

Gautam in the junior boys’ section while Dhriti in the girls’ section emerged as winners in the District Ludhiana Table Tennis Tournament held here at Shastri Hall near Guru Nanak Stadium.

In the boys’ section, Gautam outperformed Aryan Sharma in straight sets 11-8, 11-9 and 11-7 to lift the title while in the girls’ category, Dhriti triumphed over Ishreen Rajpal whom she edged out 11-8, 11-9 and 11-7 to lay her hands on winners’ trophy.

However, in the youth group, Ishreen Rajpal of Aspire Academy proved her mettle as she outclassed her co-trainee, Sehajpreet Kaur 3-2 (11-7, 11-6, 6-11, 7-11 and 11-8) to emerge as victorious while in the youth boys’ final, Ayush Grover fought it tooth and nail against Vikas before coming out winner 11-7, 8-11, 9-11, 11-8 and 11-9.

In the senior section, Sehajpreet Kaur and Sameer romped home as champions in the girls and boys sections, respectively.

In the final, Sehajpreet outplayed Hargun 11-6, 11-7, 8-11 and 11-9 to clinch the title whereas Sameer outwitted Gautam 11-6, 11-9, 7-11 and 11-8 to annex the title. The first three position holders were given trophies cash prizes.
