Ludhiana, September 21

The police today claimed to have unearthed a flesh trade racket thriving at Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar with the arrest of five persons, including two women. The prime suspect allegedly running the racket, however, managed to give the police the slip.

According to Inspector Jagdev Singh of PS Sadar, on a tip-off, a raid was conducted on a house near Mahaveer Public School in Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar where four persons, identified as Akashdeep Singh of Preet Vihar in Dugri, Gurpreet Singh of Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, a woman resident of Pratap Pura on Hambran Road, and a woman resident of Kot Managal Singh were caught in the act. The police had also seized some incriminating material from the house of the woman, a prime suspect in the case.

The police have launched a search to apprehend the main suspect while all five persons have been charged under Sections 3, 4 and 5 of the Immoral Traffic Prevention Act.
