Cancer-related stitchless surgeries pertaining to the department of gynaecology will be done free of cost at the Civil Hospital.
Dr Manmeet Batra, gynaecologist, who was earlier working with the Dayanand Medical College and Hospital (DMCH), has now joined the Civil Hospital. She recently performed a surgery at the hospital and removed a football-sized tumour from a young woman.
“Now costly and hi-end laparoscopic surgeries are being performed at the Civil Hospital. A rare cancer-related stitchless surgery was performed by Dr Batra at the hospital and a tumour of the size of a football was removed,” said Dr Avinash Jindal, Senior Medical Officer, Civil Hospital.
Dr Jindal further added that efforts were being made by the hospital to provide the best-possible treatment for the patients from the district so that they did not have to go to any other hospital for the treatment.
Dr Batra said, “The cost of the surgery in a private hospital is around Rs 1 lakh and patients are usually referred to the PGI, Chandigarh. But now we will do all the gynaecological procedures at the Civil Hospital.
Patient Guddi from Tibba Road was operated under the Ayushman Bima Yojana.
