Ludhiana, August 13

Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma and Commissioner of Police Rakesh Agrawal on Friday participated in the full dress rehearsal to mark the 75th Independence Day celebrations at the local Guru Nanak Stadium.

During the rehearsal, the Deputy Commissioner hoisted the national flag and took a salute from the march past, led by ACP Randhir Singh.

Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu would hoist the Tricolour on August 15.

The Deputy Commissioner and the Commissioner of Police said officers had been assigned duties regarding the event and any sort of callousness was unwarranted and undesirable.

They stated that the district-level function this year would be a low-key affair in the wake of Covid-19. As per government guidelines, the gathering would be limited and the function would be kept simple.

There would not be any cultural function due to the ongoing pandemic.
