Girls form band to rescue stray dogs

LUDHIANA: They may belong to affluent families of Ludhiana, but five teenagers, Manya Oswal, Purva Sabharwal, Bisman Kaur, Anusha Zinnie Girn and Tahira Grewal, want to do something on their own for stray dogs in the city.

They may belong to affluent families of Ludhiana, but five teenagers, Manya Oswal, Purva Sabharwal, Bisman Kaur, Anusha Zinnie Girn and Tahira Grewal, want to do something on their own for stray dogs in the city. They have come up with a musical band, “Quick Silver”, to generate funds to set up a ‘Paw-Mobile’, a transportation vehicle customised and run 24x7, exclusively for dog rescue.

Sharing her plans, Manya Oswal, the brain behind the noble initiative, said: “I see so many dogs which are sick, bleeding, helpless moving here and there for shelter. I told my parents that I wanted to do something for stray dogs. A few of my friends also liked my idea and we all decided to come up with a band to generate funds so that we can buy a vehicle for the animals’ rescue. Since we also took music classes, we found the idea interesting. This will be our first initiative for this noble case. We want to help the helpless stray dogs through this vehicle”.

We have also started with “There For U Foundation (TFU)” with its motto ‘Terra, Flora, Fauna, and Us’. The TFU has been aimed at giving back to the Terra (T), the Flora and the Fauna (F) and all us humans (U). It believes in help, hope and healing. It strives to celebrate co-existence with the ultimate purpose of providing a sustainable future for all, said the girls, who are studying in separate schools.

The girls said they were holding talks with veterinarians working for charity, especially Dr Sulbha Jindal, and a few animal activists in the city. “They have agreed to
