Ludhiana, November 12

The protest by industrialist against hike in steel and raw material prices and inflation entered the eleventh day today. The Consortium of Industrial Associations started the tabletop plantation drive during the protest here today. The association distributed tabletop plants with a message for the government to form a regulatory committee to curb rising prices of industrial raw material.

“To save the MSME and economy of the nation, the government must act immediately and control prices of steel and other raw material,” said industrialists.

Meanwhile, a deputation of the UCPMA and the AICMA led by DS Chawla met Som Parkash, Minister of State for Commerce and Industry, in Chandigarh.

The delegation demanded formation of the steel regulatory authority or commission, immediate downward revision of steel prices by at least 15 per cent and imposition of duty on export of steel. The minister assured both associations to take immediate necessary remedial measures in this regard. — TNS
