Ludhiana: The CIA 2 wing of the city police has nabbed an accused in a kidnap case, Sachin Dhigan, and recovered a .32-bore countrymade pistol with four cartridges from him. He was arrested at a naka on Malerkotla Road following a tip-off. On July 1, the police had registered a case against Sachin after he had kidnapped a business man for ransom. Sachin is already facing seven cases of kidnap, extortion etc. TNS

Gangster nabbed

Ludhiana: The police have nabbed a gangster, identified as Akhilesh Yadav, and recovered a .32-bore pistol with four cartridges from him. He is already facing cases of attempt to murder, kidnapping and robbery. They police said they would seek Akhilesh’s police remand to inquire about his involvement in past cases of loot reported in the city. TNS

Contractor of Liquor held

Ludhiana: The anti-smuggling cell of the city police has nabbed a liquor contractor for violating the Covid-19 guidelines. He has been identified as Jai Singh of Rajasthan Group. Sub-inspector Ramji said Jai Singh kept open his liquor vend after 9 pm which was against the guidelines issued by the government. A case under the Disaster Management Act has been registered against him. TNS

Minor girl goes missing

Ludhiana: A 13-year-old girl has gone missing under mysterious circumstances. Raju Kumar of Tajpur Road told the police that on July 7, his daughter left home without informing the family. He suspected that she could have been kept under illegal confinement by some persons. The police have registered a case. TNS

Man held for illegal mining

Ludhiana: The Haibowal police have nabbed a man on the charge of illegal mining. He has been identified as Sandeep Singh of Moga. The investigating officer, ASI Davinder Kumar, said the police received secret information that the suspect was on the way to sell illegally mined sand. A naka was set up and the suspect nabbed. He failed to produce any mining slip. A case under the Mining Act has been registered against him. TNS
