LDCA selects women cricketers for inter-district tourney

LUDHIANA: The Ludhiana District Cricket Association (LDCA), an affiliated unit of the Punjab Cricket Association, selected the women (U-19 and seniors) cricketers to represent the Ludhiana Zone in the upcoming Inter-District Tournament for the Punjab Cricket Championship.

The Ludhiana District Cricket Association (LDCA), an affiliated unit of the Punjab Cricket Association, selected the women (U-19 and seniors) cricketers to represent the Ludhiana Zone in the upcoming Inter-District Tournament for the Punjab Cricket Championship.

As many as 52 aspirants — including 15 from Moga district and 37 from Ludhiana district — attended these selection trials held here at GRD Academy on Hambran Road on Sunday.

The panel comprising Love Ablish, a former Ranji Trophy and IPL player; Gagandeep Singh, former international and IPL speedster; Arun Passi, former Punjab player; Dinesh Puri, former Punjab and inter-varsity player; besides Gagandeep Dhand, former Punjab player, watched these players before finalising the lists.

Vinod Chitkara, honorary general secretary, LDCA released the lists today that include (U-19) Ramanpreet Kaur (captain), Gazala Naaz (wicket-keeper), Avreet Kaur, Sukhpreet Kaur, Harmanpreet Kaur, Akshita Sharma, Palak and Ramanjot Kaur from Moga; Simran Saini, Aishmin Kaur, Akanksha Saini, Jessica, Harshika Dhami, Seema Purohit, Manya Sharma, Avneet Kaur, Himangi, Harita Joshi, Harshita Joshi, Vishakha Verma and Ishika Garg from Ludhiana.

Seniors: Palwinder Kaur (captain), Jyotiadav, Avneet Kaur, Harshika Dhami, Akanksha Saini, Aishmin Kaur, Manya Sharma and Seema Purhit from Ludhiana; Daljeet Kaur, Gazala Naaz (wicket-keeper), Ramanpreet Kaur, Avreet Kaur, Sukhpreet Kaur, Harmanpreet Kaur, Akshita Sharma and Palak from Moga.

“The selected players had been advised to report to coach Ramanpreet Kaur at GRD Academy ground on Hambra Road on July 24 at 4.30 pm,” said Chitkara.
