Victim informed kin before dying

  • Pomi Soni, uncle of victim Hena, said she had called them to inform them about being harassed by her in laws. She also told them that she had fallen in the kitchen and they were taking her to a private hospital at Khanna. As per Pomi, sometime later, he was informed that Hena had died. They reached Khanna and later the Khanna police registered a case against Abhinav, her husband, and other family members.

The Khanna police have registered a case against some persons regarding the death of a married woman under Section 304-B of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The deceased has been identified as Hena Saggar.

The police have booked her husband Abhinav Saggar in this regard. As per information, Hena, a resident of Ropar, had married Abhinav in 2018. Pomi Soni, uncle of the deceased, said, the in laws started harassing Hena after sometime of their marriage and they often used to beat her for dowry.

He said yesterday morning, Hena had called them to inform them about being harassed by her in laws. She also told them that she had fallen in the kitchen and they were taking her to a private Hospital at Khanna. As per Pomi, sometime later, he was informed that Hena had died. They reached Khanna and later the Khanna police registered a case against Abhinav, her husband, and other family members.

SHO City Khanna-1 Kuljinder Singh said they had registered a case by name against the husband of the deceased and are inquiring the matter. He said the body of the deceased was handed over to her guardians after post mortem.
