A person, who had gone to help solve a minor dispute of his friend, was murdered by the opposite group at Mushkabad village last night. The deceased has been identified as Sukhwinder Singh (42), a resident of the same village.

Although Sukhwinder ran for about 50 metre in an injured condition to escape the assailants, the latter continued to attack him, resulting in his death on the spot. The Samrala police have registered a case of murder against four persons, Babndeep Babbu, Manvir Singh, Manjinder Singh Pahelwan and Pardeep Singh.

According to information, Gurinder Singh Gindi of the same village had some dispute with four youths. Sukhwinder was his close friend. The opposite group called Gindi at their motor shed for a patch-up.

Gindi, along with Sukhwinder, reached the motor shed on an SUV. While both groups were talking with each other, a brawl erupted and the four youths attacked Gindi and Sukhwinder. Gindi escaped but the youths surrounded Sukhwinder and started attacking him with sharp weapons.

Two bikers, who stopped by after hearing the cries of Sukhwinder, were chased away by the assailants. After being informed, the members of Sukhwinder’s family reached the spot and rushed him to the Civil Hospital, Samrala. The doctors declared him brought dead.

Samrala SHO Sikander Singh said police parties were conducting raids to nab the suspects. Sukhwinder is survived by his 17-year-old son and wife.
