Ludhiana, September 19
A member of the Ludhiana West Subdivision Grievances Redressal Committee has written to the Chief Engineer (trust cadre) of the Department of Local Government, Punjab, and demanded a one-time settlement policy be introduced for flats at Maharishi Valmiki Nagar, here.
The member, Satish Thaman, said there was an urgent need to allow the change of name and transfer of properties of the LIG and MIG flats at the X, Y and Z blocks of Maharishi Valmiki Nagar.
He said if a one-time settlement policy was introduced, residents staying in these flats for a long time would heave a sigh of relief.
“The residents are staying in the LIG and MIG flats of the X, Y and Z blocks for the past many years since 1977 or so and it is better to transfer these flats in their names by regularising infrastructure of these blocks. Some residents have contacted me and they want that the flats should be transferred in their names at nominal rates. They should be provided better water sewerage, sanitation and rain harvesting system facilities. The LIT should also set up static waste compactors to resolve the problem in the colony,” he said.
He has also written a letter to the Chief Minister and the Local Bodies Minister in this regard and demanded that the flats be transferred in the name of occupants with the introduction of a one-time settlement policy. As per information, there were around 450 flats in these blocks.
