PAU holds maize field day

Ludhiana, September 14

The Department of Extension Education and Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare organised a field day on maize at Siarh village. The programme was organised under the guidance of Dr JS Mahal, Director of Extension Education, PAU. About 60 farmers participated in the event and later a visit to the demonstrated field was also organised.

Dr Kuldeep Singh, head of Department of Extension Education, said a total of 47 demonstrations on maize hybrid PMH 13 had been organised so far.

Dr Jawal Jindal, senior scientist (entomology), talked about important aspects in insect-pest and disease management, with special focus on proper management of the invasive pest, fall army worm in maize.

Earlier, in her welcome address, Dr Harwinder Kaur, agriculture development officer, explained the soil sampling procedure in detail. — TNS
