Residents of Rachhin village have started a movement to protect youth from falling prey to drugs.

Having received administrative support from Raikot SDM Gurveer Singh Kohli and DSP Rajwinder Singh Randhawa, the villagers are holding ward-wise thikri pehras to break the supply chain of drugs and narcotics.

Appreciating the initiative taken by the villagers, SDM Kohli and DSP Randhawa assured to provide additional police force for the safety of the villagers.

Rupinder Singh Rupy, a social activist, said activists led by sarpanch Avtar Singh Gandhi had launched a movement against drug peddlers. “We have started organising round-the-clock thikri pehras to keep a close watch on suspicious activities of strangers visiting the locality,” said Rupy appreciating that in-charge Lohatbaddi Chowki Amarjit Singh had given vital tips to the enthusiasts on the issue on Wednesday evening when the movement was launched formally.
