A multi-pronged strategy has been evolved to improve the cleanliness ranking of Ludhiana railway station before the commencement of the audit of railway stations in the region.

Northern Railway general manager TP Singh said this on Monday, adding that Ludhiana railway station was set to be included in model railway stations of the country and each of the railway employees would have to make contribution in achieving this objective.

Singh was here for a brief period in the morning, while on his way from New Delhi to Ferozepur. In the course of inspection of the railway station, he visited platform number 1 and checked cleanliness and sanitation.

He also interacted with the staff at the booking counter, parcel office, waiting area and inspected some of the food outlets. Singh went around toilets and checked the drinking water facility at the platforms.

The GM was shown a model of the proposed design of the railway station. He reviewed the progress being made in this regard. While appreciating the endeavour for giving a facelift to the railway station, especially its main entry gate on the Old GT Road, Singh emphasised that Ludhiana railway station had a rich history behind it and its heritage character should be maintained while giving it a new look.

During his brief interaction with the staff, he directed the employees and officials to work in close cooperation and with diligence, so that facilities and amenities at the railway station could be improved to make it a premier railway station in the region.

Divisional Railway Manager Rajesh Aggarwal, Ludhiana Station Director Tarun Kumar, Station Superintendent Ashok Salaria, Senior Divisional Engineer and other railway officials were present at the occasion.
