Ludhiana: The police have registered four cases under sections of the Disaster Management Act and others against violators of Covid guidelines.
The police arrested a shopkeeper for not wearing a mask. According to the police, the shopkeeper was selling articles without wearing a mask at his grocery shop on Pakhowal Road. A case under Sections 188 of the IPC, 51 of the Disaster Management Act and 3 of the Epidemic Act has been registered against him at the Dugri police station.
The Dugri police registered another case under Sections 188, 269 of the IPC and 51 of the Disaster Management Act against a shopkeeper and arrested him for violating the norms. The investigating officer, Surinder Singh, said the shopkeeper was found selling articles at his chicken shop in Dugri after the stipulated closure time on Sunday.
The Haibowal police have arrested a man for opening his ‘ahata’ at Hargobind Nagar in violation of Covid guidelines. The police said the man was offering eatables and serving liquor to visitors inside the ‘ahata’ against the government orders to check the spread of pandemic. A case under Sections 68-1-14 of the Excise Act, 188 of the IPC and 54 of the Disaster Management Act 2005 has been registered against the suspect at the Haibowal police station.
