Skill Development Centre to be named after Lord Vishwakarma: Ashu

LUDHIANA: A state-level function was organised to celebrate Vishwakarma Day at the Vishwakarma Bhawan, Millar Ganj, Ludhiana, on Thursday.

A state-level function was organised to celebrate Vishwakarma Day at the Vishwakarma Bhawan, Millar Ganj, Ludhiana, on Thursday. Ludhiana Member of Parliament Ravneet Singh Bittu and Food and Civil Supplies Minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu were the chief guests on the occasion.

Ashu said, “The engineering class takes inspiration from Lord Vishwakarma. It is due to their efforts that Ludhiana has emerged as a prominent industrial centre in the country. The state government will soon open a ‘Skill Development Centre’ in Ludhiana on the name of Lord Vishwakarma, so that youngsters can hone their skills in various fields and get employment.”

He assured that efforts would be made to dedicate the Exhibition Centre to the Lord and construct a new Vishwakarma Bhawan in the city. He asked the youth to follow the teachings of Vishwakarma.

He said the state government has been making continous efforts to provide skill development and job opportunities to youngsters.

Bittu said, “The development of a country depends upon how much respect its people give to the tools they use to progress forward. The government is trying to develop industrial set up in the state.”

As many as 14 industrialists were felicitated with Baba Vishwakarma award by the Baba Vishawkarma Bhawan Management Committee. Sewing machines were also distributed to needy women.

MLA Surinder Dabar, Kuldeep Singh Vaid, Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee General Secretary Amarjit Singh Tikka, Gurinderpal Singh, Gurmit Singh Kular also addressed the gathering during the occasion. Senior Congress leaders Malkiat Singh Dakha, Gurpreet Singh Gogi, Gurdev Singh Lapran, Jagraon, ADC, Neeru Katyal and SDM (East) Amarjit Singh Bains among others were also present on the occasion.
