Ludhiana, September 16
Residents are suffering in several parts of Ward No. 11, 12, 13 and 15 under the Ludhiana (East) constituency due to overflowing sewers. Zonal Commissioner Swati Tiwana inspected the affected areas on Wednesday and gave instructions to the staff concerned to resolve the problem. Municipal Corporation (MC) officials, councillor Naresh Uppal, Kanwaljit Singh Bobby, PA to MLA Sanjay Talwar, and others were present during the inspection.
The Zonal Commissioner took notice of some defunct machines at the sewerage treatment plant (STP) on Tajpur Road. “Due to defunct motors at the STP, sewers are overflowing in different areas. The Zonal Commissioner has given instructions to officials concerned to get defunct motors at the STP repaired by coming Tuesday,” said Kanwaljit Singh Bobby.
Residents have been demanding for a longtime that the civic body should find a permanent solution to overflowing sewers in their respective areas. However, the MC is yet to resolve the problem.
