Speed up Smart City projects, civic body chief tells officials

Holds first review meeting; wants focus to be on quality of work

MC Commissioner-cum-CEO of Ludhiana Smart City Limited Pardeep Kumar Sabharwal has given directions to the officials concerned to speed up work of projects under the Smart City mission. He also given instructions to officers to focus on quality of work at project sites and also fix their responsibilities.

After taking charge of the CEO recently, Sabharwal conducted the first review meeting on Smart City mission projects at the MC’s Zone D office on Thursday.

Project info to be displayed on boards

The MC Commissioner said the officials concerned will be directed to install boards with displaying information about project at the designated project site within the next week. Projects worth hundreds of crores under the Smart City mission are underway but many people were unable to get information about the project plan, deadline, estimated cost and other important information. If such boards are displayed, people can easily learn about the project plan and its deadline.

The MC Commissioner said the officials concerned would be directed to install boards with displaying information about project at the designated project site within the next week. If such boards are displayed, people could easily learn about the project plan and its deadline.

Sabharwal has asked the officials to submit a report about detailed project reports that had been approved during city-level meetings earlier but state-level approval is pending.

“We will take steps to get pending files approved so that the work of new projects can be started at the earliest,” he said.

As per information, new projects which are yet to be started include Multilevel Parking Lot, Construction and Demolition Waste Plant, Digital Library, Sports Park at Jainpur, Road Safety Furniture Project, Rejuvenation of Buddha Nullah and Municipal Control Centre.

Officials of AECOM consultant were among those others present during the meeting.
