Dhriti and Gautam overpowered their respective opponents in the junior girls’ and boys’ sections, respectively, to secure berths in the final of the District Ludhiana Table Tennis Tournament at Shastri Hall near Guru Nanak Stadium here today.

In the girls’ section (semi final), Dhriti survived anxious moments against Aishveer before romping home victorious 11-8, 11-8 and 11-9. In the final, she will take on Ishreen who recorded an easy win over Sehajpreet Kaur 11-8, 11-7 and 11-6.

However, both semi finals in the junior boys’ category were well fought wherein Gautam survived a scare against Tamanpreet Singh 6-11, 11-6, 7-11, 11-8 and 11-9 while Aryan Sharma got the better of Vivek 11-8, 11-9, 8-11 and 11-7 to book their berths in the final.

In the youth boys’ group, Vikas and Ayush Grover had to toil hard to upstage their rivals and made it to the summit clash.

In the semi finals, Vikas fought a pitched battle against Gautam, whom he defeated 11-8, 11-9, 7-11 and 11-8 whereas Ayush quelled a strong resistance from Aamir before wrapping up the issue 11-7, 11-8, 9-11 and 11-8.

In the youth girls’ section, Sehajpreet Kaur registered a comfortable 3-0 win (11-8, 11-9 and 11-7) over Hargun to assure herself a place in the final.
