A link road connecting BRS Nagar and Pakhowal Road is crying for attention, while the authorities are busy passing the buck.

Potholes have appeared on around 600-metre stretch between Keys Hotel and railway under bridge (RUB) but no action has been taken to get it repaired.

The construction work on the road (which links Ferozepur Road and Pakhowal Road via RUB in BRS Nagar) has been done by three departments. Due to lack of “cooperation” between the departments, a small stretch has not been repaired for the past several months.

In 2014, Ludhiana Improvement Trust had constructed the stretch of 600 metre between Keys Hotel and the railway under bridge. Besides, Greater Ludhiana Area Development Authority (GLADA) had constructed the RUB, while the road on BRS Nagar was re-carpeted by the Municipal Corporation.

But the repair of potholes on this stretch has become a Herculean task, leaving commuters in the lurch. Satinderpal Singh, a resident, said: “A small stretch between RUB and Keys Hotel is in a pathetic condition at different locations. It seems the authorities concerned are waiting for a mishap. The departments should cooperate with each other to get the road repaired as the issue is related to the public.”

A resident of Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar said: “The government should fix the responsibility of any one department to get the road portion repaired. I have been seeing potholes for the past many days, but no authority has paid any attention. The department concerned must ensure repair within 24 hours once the complaint is received.”
