Two drown in Sidhwan Canal

LUDHIANA: Two persons drowned in Sidhwan Canal in Ludhiana on Wednesday.

Two persons drowned in Sidhwan Canal in Ludhiana on Wednesday. The incident took place when a tent house owner and his employee were washing clothes, the police said.

The deceased have been identified as Gulab Ram (42) and Ravi (20). It is learnt that Gulab Ram was running a tent house on the 33 feet road. They were natives of Bihar.

According to the police, the incident took place around 11.30 am. Sources said when some locals saw them drowning in the canal, they informed the police. However, their lives could not be saved.Station House Officer Inspector Gurmeet Singh at the Daba police station said the deceased were washing clothes when the incident took place, adding that the water current was fast.

“The bodies have been taken out from the canal. We will hand over the bodies to their kin after autopsy,” he said.
