Two persons, including a migrant worker, were killed and two others injured in three road accidents in the city. While the driver involved in one of the fatal mishaps was arrested, the others managed to flee the spot.

A speeding SUV first hit a migrant worker and then rammed a motorcycle on Chandigarh Road, near Jamalpur, around 9 pm. While the migrant worker died on the spot, the motorcycle rider, Mohan Kumar, a resident of New Punjabi Bagh on Tajpur Road, sustained grievous injuries and was admitted to the CMCH. On a complaint of Mohan Kumar, the police have booked the unidentified driver of the SUV under sections 279/337/304-A/427 of the IPC.

In another case of rash and reckless driving, the police have arrested Ajay Kumar, a resident of Jujhar Nagar in Shimlapuri, under sections 279/337/338/427 of the IPC for allegedly hitting a motorcyclist, Dharinder Singh, a resident of Sant Vihar Extension, Haibowal, in the afternoon on Gill Road here. The victim has been admitted to SPS Hospital, the police said.

In yet another hit-and-run accident, a middle-aged person was crushed under a speeding vehicle near Dana Mandi on Karabara Road last night.
