Visitors at Kisan Mela made aware of their rights

LUDHIANA: On the occasion Kisan Mela, a voter awareness campaign and rally was carried out at campus of Punjab Agricultural University on Friday.

On the occasion Kisan Mela, a voter awareness campaign and rally was carried out at campus of Punjab Agricultural University on Friday. These events were inaugurated by ADC Jargraon Ludhiana Dr Neeru Katyal Gupta.

In the grand voter awareness rally for voter awareness, around 500 NSS volunteers of PAU participated. During the rally, the visitors were made aware about their right to vote.

During the campaign, the officials concerned gave demonstration on EVMs and VVPAT machines for reviewing the cast votes. All the events are planned and executed by NSS Cell of PAU in close coordination with the district administration.

Nodal officer from Ludhiana West for SVEEP Programme of Election Commission of India, Lakhwinder Singh Sandhu created awareness about the EVM and VVPAT machines.

“Farmers, students and other visitors were made aware of the working of EVM and VVPAT and mock poll was also conducted to apprise them of the process of casting and counting of votes. New voters are being encouraged to cast vote and they showed keen interest. We are organising such awareness camps at various locations in Ludhiana West constituency”, he said. — TNS
