Woman loses cash, gold to snatcher

Ludhiana, March 17

An unidentified person snatched a purse from a woman in the Field Ganj area here last evening. The incident took place in Koocha Number 9 of Field Ganj while the victim woman was going to her parental house.

The police have registered a case against unidentified persons under Section 379 B of the IPC on a complaint of the victim and launched investigation.

In her complaint to the police, Neetu, a resident of the Focal Point area, said she was going towards her parents’ house last evening. “When I reached near Koocha Number 9, a man came from behind and snatched my purse. Though I raised the alarm, he escaped with the purse,” said the woman.

According to the victim, there were Rs 40,000, 85-gram gold ornaments and important documents in the purse.

The investigating officer, ASI Mohinderpal Singh, said a case had been registered against an unidentified person at the Division Number 2 police station. “We have launched investigation. The police have been scanning the footage of CCTV cameras installed in the area,” he said.
