Ludhiana, September 6

The police have booked the owner of Singla Factory, Cycle Road, Sukhram Jindal, resident of Bhai Himmat Singh Nagar, and his crane driver Jasvir Singh, resident of Ratnopal in Fatehgarh Sahib district, under Sections 279 and 304-A of the IPC after the death by electrocution of a helper in the factory.

The deceased has been identified as Abhishek (20), resident of Rajiv Gandhi Colony in Focal Point here. He died on September 3. In a complaint to the police, Himmat Devi, mother of the deceased, said her son was holding a container which was being hauled up by the crane. “Suddenly, the container touched electric cables and my son received severe electric shock which killed him on the spot,” said the complainant. — OC
