New Delhi, October 17

Rajasthan BJP MLA Manvendra Singh, the son of former Union Minister Jaswant Singh, on Wednesday joined the Congress ahead of Assembly elections in the state.

An MLA from Sheo in Barmer, Manvendra had announced in September that he was quitting the BJP.

He was formally inducted into the Congress in the presence of Rajasthan Congress chief Sachin Pilot, party leaders Ashok Gehlot and Randeep Singh Surjewala.

Meanwhile, sitting BJP lawmaker from Maharashtra Ashish Deshmukh has also joined the Congress.
