The Union Finance Ministry on Wednesday released the third monthly instalment of Rs6,195 crore to 14 states as ‘Post Devolution Revenue Deficit Grant’ to provide additional resources during the Covid-19 crisis.

Punjab will get Rs 638.25 crore and Himachal Pradesh Rs 952.58 crore while Kerala gets the maximum of Rs1,276.91 crore.

“The government released Rs6,195.08 crore to 14 states as the third equated-monthly instalment of the post devolution revenue deficit grant as recommended by the 15th Finance Commission. This would provide them additional resources during the Covid-19 crisis,” said the office of Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in a tweet.

The ministry had released a similar amount on April 3 and May 11 as the first and second instalments of the post devolution revenue deficit grant to 14 states — Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Himachal Pradesh, Kerala, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Punjab, Sikkim, Tamil Nadu, Tripura, Uttarakhand and West Bengal.
