New Delhi, October 23

A day after India criticised Pakistan PM Imran Khan for his tweet on talks to resolve Kashmir issue, New Delhi on Tuesday summoned a senior Pakistani official and lodged its protest over ceasefire violations across the border.

A demarche was issued by the MEA “lodging strong protest over casualties of Indian soldiers during an attempted infiltration on October 21 by Pakistani terrorists in Sunderbani sector of Jammu and Kashmir.”

“It was informed that two Pakistani armed intruders—in military fatigue—have been killed by Indian forces during the ensuing firefight and the Pakistan government should take custody of the bodies of its nationals,” an MEA statement said. It said the ministry condemned provocative action by Pakistan, which revealed their complicity in aiding and abetting terrorism.

Meanwhile, military officials spoke to each other over telephonic hotline on Tuesday with India asking Pakistan to respect ceasefire. Sources said middle-rung officials spoke on the weekly scheduled conversation with both sides presenting their points and irritants. — TNS
