Mumbai, October 21
As India’s first luxury cruise set sail between Mumbai and Goa, it was Amruta Fadnavis, wife of Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who caught revellers’ attention—for all the wrong reasons.
A video that went viral showed Fadnavis, whose husband Devendra Fadnavis flagged off the cruise ‘Angriya’ on Saturday with Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, sitting outside the cruise’s safety range to click selfies, as the security on board tries to caution her against it.
Love sails
To Mumbai couple Prabir and Sayali Correa, the cruise offered the perfect setting to say “I do”. And who better to solemnise their wedding than the ship’s captain, Captain Irwin Sequeira.
Sequeira, who has been sailing for 15 years and has helmed over 60 ships, would submit evidence of their wedding to a Mumbai court.
“A captain has right to solemnise marriage and later on give evidence in court that they are married on the sea. I feel happy that on India's first cruise I got this chance,” he said.
The ecstatic bride said it was a “dreamy” wedding.
"It's extremely unique. I am honoured to get married onboard in India's first cruise. It was a dreamy moment for me. This was something I didn't expect. For the very first time, I am sailing on the cruise." ‘Angriya' set sail from Mumbai to Goa on Saturday.
The cruise, which has six decks and 104 cabins, can ferry 399 passengers at a time. Price of the one-way ticket will be between Rs 7,000 and Rs 12,000. The cruise sail four times a week, except during monsoons.
