New Delhi, January 17

In the first instance of a district authority mandating Covid vaccine shots for staffers, the Koderma Chief Medical Officer and District Vaccination Officer have issued an order asking all staffers to get vaccinated or be prepared for salary interruption until the next order.

In the order issued yesterday, the Koderma (Jharkhand) Civil Surgeon said, “As per the official orders dated January 15, 2021, those government staffers who have not yet got themselves vaccinated should get the shots at the earliest. In case of non-vaccination, the salary will remain suspended until the next order. The salary will be restored only after displaying the proof of vaccination.”

The government has repeatedly clarified that the Covid vaccination drive is voluntary. Jharkhand is among the states that have received only the Serum Institute made Covishield. — TNS
