The Congress appears all set to face off with its new ally the Shiv Sena over the Citizenship Amendment Bill with the party veering towards opposing the Bill when it comes up in Parliament next week.

“I am told the Congress will oppose the Citizenship Amendment Bill,” Chidambaram said when asked what the party’s stand on the controversial legislation would be. The Congress strategists met today to take a call on the issue and are engaged with the larger Opposition on the matter too. A calibrated call will be taken, a senior Congress leader said.
