A 26-year-old woman has been booked for flying a drone near the Charminar here, police said on Friday.

A local court fined her Rs 1,000 for violating prohibitory orders, they said.

The woman from Kolkata was flying the drone for filming near the historic monument last night, police said.

Assistant Commissioner of Police B Anjaiah said flying drones near ancient monuments without permission is illegal and against the city police commissioner's orders.

"She claimed she was not aware of the rules. Flying drones without permission is banned in the city. Also, photography and filming are banned near archaeological sites without necessary permissions. We registered a case against her," the ACP told PTI.

Anjaiah said the woman who came to the city to meet her brother was produced in the court today, which let her off with a fine. — PTI.
