A four-day International Workshop Focusing on “Antimicrobial Resistance (AR) and Strategies for its Mitigation” concluded at Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, (GADVASU), Ludhiana earlier this week. As many as 55 researchers, including18 representing 14 different countries, participated in this conference.
Brain storming session covering various aspects from occurrence of AR among bacteria and different mitigation strategies were explored by the experts. Dr. JPS Gill, Director of Research of GADVASU said strengthening and establishment of specialised research laboratories was needed to work on novel therapies and diagnostics of resistant pathogens. It was stressed upon to involve various governments and NGOs to create public awareness regarding the ill effects of AR and judicious use of antibiotics.
