Patiala, August 28

The District Congress Committee (Patiala urban) president, KK Malhotra, along with Sant Banga, KK Sharma and other party leaders, today submitted a memorandum to Deputy Commissioner Kumar Amit requesting postponement of JEE and NEET. The memorandum was addressed to Punjab Governor VP Singh Badnore.

In the memorandum, Congress leaders stated that while the country was facing Covid-19 pandemic and Section 144 had been imposed, it would be difficult for students to appear for the exams.

“Some parts of the country are already facing issues, including floods, but the Central Government is ignoring the point raised by Rahul Gandhi while at the same time putting lives of applicants in danger,” they added.

The leaders also questioned if the government had made arrangements to check all applicants for Covid-19 while all MLAs were being tested for the virus before the Assembly session.
