Patiala, March 17
The police claimed to have busted a gang of robbers with the arrest of four persons here today.
The suspects have been identified as Bhajan Singh, Pardeep Singh and Jaspreet Singh, all residents of Moga district, and Bhadur Singh of Patiala. A .32-bore country-made pistol, five live cartridges and three sharp weapons were recovered from the possession of the suspects, who were planning to commit a major robbery, claimed the police.
DSP Saurav Jindal said Urban Estate SHO Harry Boparai and ASI Iqbal Singh had received a tip-off that some persons were planning a commit a robbery near an underbridge on the Sangrur highway.
The police reached the spot and arrested four robbers while two members of the gang managed to flee. DSP Jindal said their interrogation led to the recovery of five stolen motorcycles, a Maruti car, two LCD screens, an inverter battery, two gas cylinders and an iPhone.
The SHO said two of the arrested members were facing several cases in Moga district. — TNS
