3 Hindu girls abducted in Pakistan; DSGMC to take it up with MEA: Sirsa

New Delhi, January 17

The Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) will take up the “abduction” of three Hindu girls in Pakistan with the Ministry of External Affairs.

DSGMC president Manjinder Singh Sirsa on Friday said these girls had been abducted in the past 48 hours.

He said one of them, 14, had also been raped. Her father got a threatening call from the abductor asking him not to try to get her back, Sirsa said, adding that she was abducted from Jacobabad.

He termed the abductions and subsequent forceful conversions in such cases as “crimes against humanity”.

He claimed that two other girls had been abducted from Sindh. The local police in Pakistan had not helped; rather than lodging a complaint, their parents were asked to come after a few days, he added.

Sirsa also released a list of Hindu and Sikh women who had either been abducted or were being threatened.

Sirsa urged the UN Human Rights Council to look into the matter and restore the dignity of the minorities in Pakistan. He called upon the Centre to take up the matter with Pakistan. Sirsa said he had referred the matter to the Prime Minister and Home Minister.

He said the DSGMC had asked for an appointment with the MEA to provide details of these girls.
