Chandigarh, January 18

It’s a double whammy for state Congress leaders as the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has began probe into the alleged scams following the Vigilance Bureau (VB) investigations.

Political vendetta

There are a lot of similarities between the BJP and AAP. Both parties are unleashing political vendetta against their opponents. — Sukhpal Singh Khaira, Congress MLA

The Congress leaders, who have been vehemently opposing any alliance with AAP in the state due to alleged political vendetta unleashed by the Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann-led government through the VB, now face fresh challenge from the central agency.

Recently, the ED arrested former forest minister Sadhu Singh Dharamsot under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) in an investigation linked to an alleged forest scam, the central agency had also conducted raids at premises of former minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu.

A senior party leader admitted that the ED action was a cause for concern. In case of Dharamsot and Ashu, the VB probe has become a base for further action by the ED.

The central agency has also questioned former Chief Minister Charanjit Channi in connection with illegal sand mining case involving his nephew. The ED also raided the house of former forest minister Sangat Singh Gilzian recently.

Leader of the Opposition Partap Singh Bajwa has repeatedly termed AAP as a ‘B’ team of the BJP.

Bajwa said, “Instead of vendetta politics, the CM Bhagwant Mann-led AAP government should use its resources and energy on overall development of the state. The economy is in limbo and essential activities are being carried out on borrowed money.”

Bholath MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira said there were a lot of similarities between the BJP and AAP. He said both the national parties were unleashing political vendetta against their opponents.
