Akal Takht celebrates Miri Piri Diwas

Miri Piri Diwas was celebrated at Akal Takht to commemorate the blessings of Guru Hargobind Sahib.  Akhand Path was initiated and kirtan performed by  Hazoori ragi Jabartor Singh jatha. Ardas was performed by head priest Giani Malkit Singh. Akal Takht acting Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh urged the community to adhere to 'miri-piri' . TNS

16-yr-old girl kidnapped in Moga village

A 16-year-old girl, daughter of a migrant labourer, working at a brick-kiln in Jalalabad village, was allegedly kidnapped by Monti and his aides. Naseem Mohammad of Chandpur village, Mujaffarnagar (UP), alleged that Monti, Sonu, Monu and Arvind Kumar kidnapped his daughter. A case has been registered. TNS

Addict dies at rehab

Abohar: An addict from Purani Abadi in Sriganganagar died at a rehabilitation centre. The incharge of the centre told the police that he was admitted for treatment on June 13. He complained of chest pain and was provided medical treatment immediately, but he died. OC
