The district police on Wednesday claimed to have solved the bank burglary within 48 hours with the arrest of three accused, including a Class-IV employee of the bank.

The burglary took place in the Bank of India situated at the District Administrative Complex here on the intervening night of Sunday and Monday when three burglars decamped with Rs 17.65 lakh and 18 packets of gold after breaking into the bank.

The accused have been identified as Manpreet Singh (bank peon), Satnam Singh, alias Nikka, and Jarnail Singh Jaila, all residents of Kaler Nagar, Moga city. Police have recovered Rs 9 lakh (Rs 3 lakh from each of them) and 14 packets of gold, besides tools used in the burglary and damaged CCTV camera’s digital video recorder (DVR) from their possession.

A criminal case had already been registered under Sections 457 and 380 of the IPC against them at the Moga City (I) police station.
