Hoshiarpur wants change: AAP nominee

Hoshiarpur: AAP candidate Ravjot Singh filed his nomination papers with District Election Officer Isha Kalia on Thursday. Talking to the media, he said, “People are fed up with traditional parties like Congress, SAD and the BJP. They want change.” He alleged that during the tenure of the SAD-BJP and Congress regime, real issues were ignored and leaders of both parties had been exploiting people in the name of populist measures. oc

PDA’s Khalra says she doesn’t need security

Tarn Taran: Punjab Democratic Alliance (PDA) candidate from Khadoor Sahib Bibi Paramjit Kaur Khalra filed her nomination papers here on Thursday in the court Returning Officer-cum-DC Pardeep Kumar Sabharwal. She was accompanied with four other associates, including her advocate Jagdeep Singh Randhawa, Gen JJ Singh and Sewa Singh Sekhwan. Khalra denied security cover, saying she wanted security for all residents. oc

Will get opium legalised: Dr Gandhi

Patiala: Dr Dharamvira Gandhi, PDA candidate, and Nina Mittal, AAP candidate, on Thursday filed nomination papers for the Patiala Lok Sabha seat. Addressing his supporters, Dr Gandhi said, "I have raised the issues concerning people in Parliament during my tenure as Patiala MP." He said if re-elected, he would work towards getting poppy husk and opium legalised and implementation of the Sikh Marriage Act among others. tns
