Chandigarh, August 5
A number of Congress legislators stumped their own ministers during question hour today with Amargarh MLA Surjit Singh Dhiman even threatening to join an ongoing dharna by villagers in his constituency if the government did not provide good healthcare in Amargarh and Ahmedgarh towns.
On the other hand, Zira Congress MLA Kulbir Singh Zira, while seeking filling of posts of principal and lectures in colleges in his constituency, asked Tript Rajinder Bajwa to do so before his portfolio was changed. He chuckled that earlier the minister had also given him assurances.
MLA Dhiman had asked the Health Minister for upgrading hospitals in Amargarh and Ahmedgarh immediately. On Dhiman’s insistence, the minister promised to visit the hospitals at which Dhiman asked for time-bound action and threatened to join the dharna.
In another embarrassment for the government, Speaker Rana KP Singh asked Forest Minister Sahdu Singh Dharamsot to reply responsibly and clearly to the questions. — TNS
